Durand, IL: The Folk Family Racing team spent much of the last month on the road, attending a pair of big dollar bracket events in Atco, NJ and Stanton, MI and the annual IHRA Nitro Jam event in Martin, MI.  The family, which includes team patriarch Ron Folk and his sons Brian and Nick, has become accustomed to winning at the highest levels: each of the three have claimed IHRA World Championships, they’ve combined for nearly 40 national event victories, and countless big dollar bracket wins.  It’s no surprise then that the family has continued their winning ways in the summer of 2010.

Nick Folk kicked off the month of July with a string of late round showings, advancing to the quarterfinals and semi-finals of the ultra-competitive Tenn-Tuck Triple Crown events in Bowling Green, KY.  The following weekend he took runner-up honors in the Box category at Cordova Dragway Park’s annual 10 for 10, a $10,000-to-win bracket event.  He then drove his Stock Eliminator Camaro to a $5,000 victory in the Sunday portion of the event, besting Scott LaBudde in the Box/ No-Box runoff for the grand prize.

From there, the team hit the road, attending the annual AA Auto Salvage Mega Bucks weekend in Atco, NJ.  Although Brian and Nick each went several rounds throughout the event, the weekend was a forgettable one as it did not result in a final round appearance.  The following weekend, however, Brian Folk was able to reach a $5,000 final round at the annual World Super Pro Challenge in Stanton, MI.  There, Brian fell in a close race to good friend Anthony Layne.

From Stanton, the team spent a week in Michigan before attending the IHRA Nitro Jam event at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin.  The Folk family has had immense success at this event in the past, as Brian and Nick each won in 2008.  Plus, the event annually features one of the richest and most prestigious shootouts in all of sportsman racing, the Moser Engineering Axle Mania Shootout.  Between the two Folk brothers, the team had three entries in the Axle Mania Shootout (Brian in both Top Dragster and Super Rod, and Nick in Stock).  In that event, Brian Folk advanced each of his entries to the quarterfinal round before dropping both decisions in that frame.

In the actual Nitro Jam event, Nick Folk was able to secure his second Stock victory in three seasons at the event, as he topped Rod Boertman in the sixth and final round to hoist the IHRA trophy.

The Folk Family Racing team will enjoy a busy month of September, as the team travels to O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis for the annual NHRA U.S. Nationals, and the Mickey Thompson Million Dollar Race.  The team will wrap up the month with big dollar bracket events near their Durand, IL home.
