I have an SBF IE 8.2 deck block (4.125" bore). The problem is all the machining is done, the long block has been assembled, and as I attempt to put the distributor in.....IT WILL NOT FIT.

There is an interference fit. I did not have a dial-bore gage that would fit the opening so calipers had to do. The bore opening is 1.496"-1.497", and my distributor housing measures 1.498" at all three registering points.

I really do not want to tear the long block down, to fix this so I will be turning the body of the distributor down.

I need to know how much clearance is acceptable between the distributor body and the bore in the block so I can modfiy the distributor.

Thanks

.0005-.0001 would be great, as long as it slides in your fine, we have had to do this also.
