Hi, I bought an Iron Eagle 351 block (9.2" deck 4.125" bore pn 31385295) from someone for a song & I had hopes of 427 cubes (4.00" stroke x 4.125" bore) but I can't find an assembly anywhere that will work with the 9.2" deck. Does anyone know where I can locate a rotating assembly for this block? Thanks in advance.

You can use a 6" rod with a 1.200 comp height piston, a 6.125 rod with 1.075 height piston, or 6.2 rod with 1" height piston. rods are available on the shelf we would just need to make a piston. The problem is most of he cranks have counterweights for a 6.2 rod so you would probably be limited to that combination.

Yeah that's what I've found so far. Eagle has a 4.00" crank & the 6.20" rods that it requires but I can't find anyone with an "off the shelf" 1.00" compression height piston. I was really trying not to get custom pistons because they are pricey.

you could always sell that block and get the 9.5 deck block. Because of the deck height of that block your pretty much stuck with a custom piston.

We use that block and rotator all the time, I can get you any compression or combination you want. That is the best 434 SBF engine combination for that deck.

sounds good to me

It is just dimensions. Always nice to get a combination together on paper first for this reason. The song you got the block for is now moot if the difference is being eaten up by the pistons you need to get. If there is no rotater available, you will have no choice but to make a piston. They shouldn't be that much more if you don't get all the killer options. Just the wait time is all..Nothing wrong with the 4.00" stroke, 6.200" rod and the 1.00" cd piston. Not unheard of to do and ANY builder could do it for you.

Hey, thanks Kris for the vote of confidence there with just any builder could do it. I do keep that rotator on the shelf in 10:1 compression and 14:1. NO WAITING @ ALL. And custom does cost a tooooooooooonnnnnnnn more believe me. And then its a custom thing if you hurt something and then that is where the time for waiting begins!

The shorter the deck height, the faster the engine will be in this situation, so the song you got the block for just makes the in stock rotater even sweeter when your ready. I do only have 2 left. Will reorder that sometime later. Very busy right now with crate 383 street heat engines. Sold 3 just last week! Economy is coming back!

Lol. Sorry Bill. That wasn't directed at you and in no way downplaying your ability's regardless if different than mine, I just meant it is common practice and any compitent builder would know what you would need to do. I have seen some guys really f@#$ things up when it comes to it, and some are big names, go figure. Sometimes some builders do different combinations that they like and do them so often that they work with manufacturers to have it made and shelf stock it which is good for situations like these. Waiting for pistons is not something I enjoy doing. lol.

That is called they will most likely get a call back for more work. They build into a custom piece the opportunity to have to be recalled. A lot of people do it. I try not to build nothing with custom pistons, its a pain in the ___s when you have to wait 4-6 weeks and they kill you because of the specialty order. Nothing taken from your post. Don't sweat it.

Yea I love that. 4-6 weeks for pistons BUT you can have them expedited from anywhere between 3-7 days for an extra amount...so basically what they are telling me is that they CAN be done in a week, but ONLY if I pay double...LOVE IT!!!!

we just done a redo of a blown up piece for a stick class we dominate up in PA. Customer wanted MAX compression, so we set him up with the 10+cc dome version. Very hard to find them around. NO ONE has them on the shelf for 4.125" bore and the right compression height. I called everyone and found none. I had them. Short block and heads are done, had to repair the heads where the rod let go, I will post the compression and e.t. times when he gets it back in and running. I usually get to dyno these repairs but the customer wants to do it in the car??????

4.125 x 4.000= 427ci w/a 6.125" rod and 9.2" good dart block.
