The application is Marine, fresh water cooled. What comparisons could be made between the Compacted Graphite block, cast and aluminum ?

The only difference between a cast iron block and compacted graphite is that the compacted graphite block is much stronger. It's really only necessary if you are putting a ton of power through your motor.

The aluminum block obviously offers a substantial weight reduction. You'll need to get a marine hard-coating applied though, as salt water really does a number on aluminum. We have marine yellow chromate aluminum parts available.

The CGI may have benifits we want to consider. Availability and price are important. Spec. would include 10.2", 4.60 bore, jessel dog bone or keyway, raised 55mm cam, dry sump and piston sprayers. Qty...2 or 4 ....perhaps several more to follow.

I'm not sure what availability time is on the CGI stuff myself.
Go ahead and give us a call, one of the sales/tech guys can give you a good idea what time frame and pricing will look like on them.
