hello all,
question, will 8500 RPM and 675 hp be to much to ask from the shp block?
any and all advice welcomed!!!

build :
4?? sbc bore 4.145 x 3.75, 48# callies magnum crank, oliver billet rods @ 650g and around 460g for pistons. ( also thinking about 904 lifter and big block cam tunnel)

i would love to use the shp block for the weight savings . (35 # less then little m) but not at the risk of having problems!!!

from reading the forums it would be a piece of cake for a 1/4 mile car, but this will be a circle track application where the motor will be spinning 8500 RP Ms for like 40/50 laps per night, 5000 off the turn and spin up too 85 /8600 rpm to the next left and do it over and over.
3/8 mile oval dirt track, modified dirt race car.

thanks to all in advance.

What kind of heads do you have to have to make that 8500rpm work on a motor with a 3.750 stroke crank. At the very least I would stud it. Carl has a couple of boosted motors that are over 700Hp with the SHP, but the roundy round thing might be the issue. JMO.......

hi jake,
thanks for the reply.
heads will be dart cnc 230 or the afr cnc 227.
arp studs for sure thanks, the cars like alot of rpm helps slow them down at the end of the track.
most nights the top rpms would be more like 7900/8200 but there will be times you the gear.

Your not even close to hurt the block. Ofcourse, rpm means little to nothing with blocks unless your balance job is off. HP is the main factor along with fast power adders like N2O. Block expansion with power is critical. That is why most light weight blocks crack when a tremendous amount of power is added quickly. The SHP block will handle 800hp with no problems.
