Welcome to the board. Nice to have you here. Cabin fever goes without saying. All I have from my engine right now is my distributor, valve covers, and oil pump. Everything else is gone :(

Well Ron, welcome to the site and chime in with any thing you have. I am sure someone will help out. To get us all started, give us some information on your ride. Street, Strip, fast, slow, pump gas, race gas etc. Don't be bashful

A little more info... well I've got a 69 RS/SS Camaro originally a 396 (which was gone along time ago) it now has a 496, with Dart Pro 1 310 heads and an old ZL1 cam. I drive the wheels off it in the summer...PUMP GAS... I usually run it at the track 4 or 5 times a year just for fun, 10.80s @ 124.(I think it should be a lot faster). The wifes car is a 489 with 781 heads in a 80 TA. 3.08 gear. We've done a couple power tours with it. It gets 18 mpg and runs mid 11s. We do a lot of car shows and local cruise-ins,in the summer. In the winter???? I'm an electronics tech by trade...but I love cars. When it come to mechanics, I'm self taught- I always say I know everything NOT to do to a big block.

You sound like you can hold your own with all you have got going on. You got great mph for e.t. Sounds like your doing pretty good. What gear and tranny with converter is in that thing? A lot of people would like to run that fast on pump gas. Sound like rwhp is over 500 with thing. Pretty good!

We've owned this car since 1983. The car was originally a 4 speed car. I converted it to a turbo 400 a long time ago and never looked back. Its built with all the good stuff, brake reverse valve body, drum, etc. 10" 4400 stall and a Dana 60 w/3.73 gear. Im running 28x11.5 on 7x15 rims. Im planning on getting wider rims and changing front springs and bushings, Moroso and Del-a-lum. I've run that same cam for 14+ years, first in a 427 then the 496. I've thought about a roller but with only 10.6 to 1 compression I'm not sure if there's much to gain for the money. I've got no experience with rollers and I've heard so many horror stories about them on the street, I do a lot of car shows and idle alot. Oh well I,m always thinking, trying to chip the ol et down some. It was running 10.70s but last spring I finally broke down and put a rollbar in it. It slowed it down, but I think theres more in the 60 ft. (1.54) I might also try and take out the fold down back seat 60 lbs. The car weighs 3750 with me in it. Well, if anybody has any ideas, I'm all ears.

A roller will only bring harmony to your engine. Put a good oil in that thing like Renegade 5w20 or 20w50 with 3000 and 2500 ppm of zinc and you will pick up a good 20-40 hp over flat tappet.
