Hi I am new to this forem , It looks like a great place to talk and get ideas and good imformation. I am looking for a great set of heads for my chevy 383. It is a vortec engine but I am willing to change intakes to get the best head. This motor has 9.5 to 1 comp and has a small roller in it 212 @ 0.050 intake and 218 @0.050 exhaust. I am not sure of the lift but it is under .500. with the vortec's the car has great low end torque and runs 13.0 @ 104 in the 1/4 mile. I am looking for more power but keeping the great throttle response . I am looking at all the aluminum heads and the darts look great. I'm told to keep the intake runner volume at 180-195 which I think is right . what do you guys think.

It sounds like the best head choice would be our 180cc Pro-1 Platinum. This head will use the old style intake pattern. I am assuming this is a Hyd. Roller camshaft? If not please specify. The part number set up with 2.020" x 1.600" / 64 cc / AP assembled with stainless steel valves and a 1.437D spring good to .600 lift is PN # 11111112P. These retail for around $ 756.09 per head. We also have a dual plane air gap style intake manifold called a Kool Can we can provide for $ 269.00 that will match the heads.
I have attached a spec sheet for your review.
Let us know if you have any further questions ?

Depends on just how much power you are looking to make. These have alot of potential to make killer power while staying streetable. A real basic 383, I would go with their 195's. Either way I would recommend a new camshaft. The one you have is REAL small, almost stock. Change it to something that will help you reap the benefits of the new heads. If it is a real mild street deal, stick with an Edelbrock Air Gap. The 180 head isn't bad either, just depends on what you are looking to do.
