how long will stock heads last running open headers on a stock 350?
the reason I'm asking is because i had to put a new clutch in my truck and the bolts for the y pipe wouldn't break loose so we just cut the pipe off to drop the tranny and it put me in the position im in now with open headers....

long term usage could cause the cooler air to be sucked back into the engine on de excelleration and cause a cracking affect in the exhaust valves. It is not the small as open headers, the collector is usually 30"s away from the valve and the air being sucked back in at that point does have a chance to at least warm up. I don't think you will have any problems but, it is possible to do this, not probable.

yeah well i was more concerned about the heads warping because of the cold air in kansas that we are having but i only had to go about 6 days so i dont think anything happened in those days besides a lot of looks and questions about what im running under the hood lol

Your heads warping would not be in any danger. The hot exhaust valves sucking in that cold Kansas air would be. Pour cold water on a hot metal and watch it change shape real fast!
