i am building a new motor this year and i want alot of power around 3000-7500 rpm range. if i build a 377 i will use a stock 400 block and or the 383 would be the 010 020 block. my question is what heads and intake should i go with and would the heads work the same on both motors, also it would be flat tappet cam

how are you using the engine? What compression do you want. stay away from the stock 400 block they suck. Had luck with them but they always end up cracking.

Go with the Dart cast 50cc Platinum 215cc runner, 49cc chamber heads. With flat tops they will make around that compression. Deck em if you want more compression. I'f you want to bump the comp up a bit put a .100 dome in it.
Call Cam-Motion and have them grind you a good cam. If you'd rather have an off the shelf cam I've had good luck with these Crane Cams part numbers 114711 or 114701. But cam-motion is your best bet. 1-225-926-6110 ask for Dan. You won't need any, but if you need any help with them PM me here.
As far as intakes go, the SBC Iron Eagle/Pro 1 Single Plane Intake Manifolds looks like a good intake. I also like the ole Holley strip dominator intake. It's been a good intake for years.
Like I said before, do yourself a favor and stick with the 383. Better Block. PM me for any other help you need.
Thanks, Don

Use the 200 cc heads and go with the 377. Hands down the larger 4.125/4.155" bore will produce more hp in this usable rpm range and the 377 has always made great power. Stay away from flat tappets unless your rules mandate it. They are junk @ that rpm. The roller stuff is the way to go. Also, whatever you do, use a 3/8 x .135 wall pushrod minimum with either cam you run. This is were good power can be had cheap in upper rpm ranges. Run the Victor Jr. with this, it is hands down the best sized runner and plenum for your applicaiton. If you do use flat tappet, use titanium retainers and if you can swing it, put some titanium valves into this application and watch you smoke em if you can drive. There are some decent deals on tit valves on ebay and other places. New is better. hope this helps
