Simple question, but seems to have a which is better Blondes or Brunettes flare to it. But lets see where it goes, what muffler do you run, hp and why do you like it?

DynaMax I don't really know the HP and I run it because it's the only one I could find to fit my 4" collecter and the track requires one. And I like Blondes

Thanks for getting this started, I'm surprised a Dynomax started this, figured for sure it would only be a FloMaster show. I'll be mostly street use, kinda liked the looks of the DynoMax VT...to add a little sanity on the highway.

I always use the Flowmasters as well. I put a set on my motorhome last year and even it sounds awesome. Used the resonators as well and its sounds beautiful, the 454 sounds sweet.

I have a FLowmaster on my 88 Camaro and i have Corsa on my 02 Z28. I like the agressiveness of the flowmaster, but not the drone at highway speeds. I like the aggressive Corsa sound on the Z during acceleration, but when im cruising there isnt any drone so i can have a conversation with someone riding in the car.

Now were getting somewhere, it's hard to get people to be honest about what they're using. That drone is what I was worried about. Any idea if the Corsa's affect hp?? May have to give some up for sanities sake. ThanksI have a FLowmaster on my 88 Camaro and i have Corsa on my 02 Z28. I like the agressiveness of the flowmaster, but not the drone at highway speeds. Yeah they affect hp, but its in the gains hp dept. They tune their cat-back systems per vehicle specs to gain the most hp. The system is made of Stainless steel and is NOT cheap like the Aluminized steel of a Flowmaster. I need to replace my flowmaster on my 88(10 years after install though). Its starting to look like swiss cheese. The Corsa system will probobly last longer than the car.
Heres their site. I think they are selling mufflers now too. http://corsaperformance.com/

A crossover pipe kills the droning from the Flowmasters. I've got a 4" exhaust on my truck with FM top 10 race mufflers on it and no drone at all, damn loud though. I read in another forum that they cost power but with 4" pipe I don't see how.

Its the weekend, I can post again, seen I was banned for fighting, don't know what that was all about and if fighting is now call this, what happened to the old get your __s kicked? new tech, really puts a spin on fighting. Young kids and verturality, its going to their heads. but I don't have any time in the day to sit around like all these very busy engine builders? wonder how they can be on 20 boards and post as much.

Getting to the post, Dyno Max bullet mufflers for sure for all the cars that are required to run a muffler and have no room like mine. I like the flowmaster collector mufflers but can't seem to get them on the cars sometimes. I just put 5" bullets on my Malibu and 7.50's sound really good. Use to use Spin Trap they work very well also but hard to get into tight places, pretty flat, but bulky, Flowmaster single and double chamber only, the collector mufflers are killer but very pricey.

i have a 4" system with over the rear end tail pipes with oval magnaflow mufflers behind my 555 bbc. they are quieter than the oval borlas that were on it for 2 street runs at idle but once you hit 4k rpm's it's loud.

The Borla stuff is very loud as well as the bullet dynomax. The single chamber flowmaster just sound better. I personally like the flowmaster head collector type. This is nice for clearance if you have it. Been thinking of putting them out the side on my Malibu 7.50 car. I have the bullets now and she is legal and loud.

Are you referring to the 40 series mufflers when you say head collector?? I'm looking at staying sane one the highway. I'm thinking cut-outs for the strip and a quieter muffler for the street? Maybe Flow Master 40's and resonators would be the street solution.

I managed to find an old school set of Rhino mufflers for my '76 Impala.
There pretty large, and handle the 3" exhaust no problem.
Got them dumping out in front of the rear axle.

Hard to believe but the 434 Stroker sounds nice and rumbly at low RPM's and cruising.
Foot the floor, these mufflers sound like open headers. Awesome.
While buzzing along the highway at 70mph, there is no drone what so ever.

Wish I could find another set for my 94 Silverado.

My buddy's got a 396 in a duallie and he's used Flowmaster resonators to control the highway drone, little more money but it still sounds sweet at idle.

anything with flowmaster just seems to have that sound that no other muffler has! I am a flowmaster man all the way. Just sounds deep and powerful.

I've always run 3.5" two chamber Flowmasters, love the sound and they've never hurt my e.t's, in fact my times have always been better with them vs open header. A little back pressure is not a bad thing for a race motor. Borla mufflers are supposed to be awesome mufflers as well. You get what you pay for, right?

the single chambered flowmasters are killer, we use them all the time if we can not get a header muffler on the cars.

when choosing a muffler look at sizing the exhaust dia. 1st.
Most will run 3", so choose a (stick your hand) straight thru type muffler with ss packing, these type like
Magnaflo Dynomax Borla will not loose any hp, and will quiet a streetcar down low for good street cruising at low rpm. Baffled mufflers will usually loose some power so I stay away from those designs.
Basically you want a muffler that will not be choking an engine and costing any power, so if its a straight thru design it should be good.

Thanks, Borla recommends their Turbo 3" in/out muffler, the Flo masters sound tough, but they drone like crazy at cruize speed. I'd like to avoid that, thanks for the opinion.

I copied Wild Man Wilsons exhaust. 3 1/2 X to Magnaflows ovals to dumps. :)

Pypes is good, straight through

Also I like Hooker Aero Chambers for a true street car. They are straight through but one chamber is like a Borla and one chamber is their design however you can look through it

Hooker "Max Flow" is like Borla and sounds good too.

I like both Hookers and Pypes

I prefer 18 inches of 3.5 inch tube with a 7X3.5 turn downs for my mufflers :Dworks great !
