These are the specs on the two engines that I am running in a 3150 lb. IMCA stock car. This car gets ran with a "worked" 350 cfm holley 2-barrell on IMCA sanctioned tracks and a modified 500+ cfm Ford two barrell on others.
1st:
434 cid sbc
6" h-beam rods
forged 4"stroke crank
Ross 13:1 (with 64 cc heads) domed forged pistons
2nd:
383 cid sbc
5.7 i-beam rods
scat crank
12.7:1 SpeedPro domed hyper. pistons
I currently have a set of Iron Eagle heads. 200 cc intake runners. 72 cc chambers angle plugs. Will these heads work on either of these motors, or what machining needs to be done to make them work or what heads do I need to purchase for these engines?
THanks

Hello,
What type of RPM range will these two engines see?

Sorry,
I have two more questions...Is there a rule wether you can run Iron or Aluminum. Also do you want an as cast head or CNC ported?
Thanks,
~M

Iron heads only. I have been running as cast heads.

I would put a set of 230cc Iron Eagles on the 434ci. The 383 ci would work best with a 215cc Iron Eagle.
The bare part numbers would be:
215cc I.E Pn# 10510020P
230cc I.E Pn# 10710020P
Let me know if you need assembly numbers and if so what type of springs.
Thanks,
~M

What should I do with the 72cc, 200 cc heads I have now if anything? And what cc chambers do I need?

They will work just a fine as whatever you have on there now. If they are larger than what you have now, they will work very well on the 434.
Being you only have air for 2500/3500 rpm with both engines. With small restricted type engines, you have to run tons of compression to make really decent power with that type of rpm. Don't get me wrong here, a 350 cfm carb is very hard to make good power and is meant to keep the pack running together and let the car and driver win. With the 500, you could do more. These little carbs go rich really quick and should be tuned with what ever head you install on a dyno.
We have seen over 450 hp with the 4.030 bore stuff and 475+ with the 4.155 stuff. I really don't care about hp here, we use the +500 ft lbs of torque here and that is what shoots the car off the corner. HP means nothing when restricted type engines are used. Above 6000 rpm no one makes a big difference, they all go flat. What difference there is, you could kill them off the corners and be so far ahead they would give up.
The race is won in and out of corners and getting off the corners well. The 230 version like our angle has said will work well and the 215 will work well but with small cfm restricted engines, you can't even get close to the air you need in the engine anyhow. Camshaft is pretty important as well as other options you my want to discuss in private. We do a few of these engines and all of them run very well. NO ONE has a top secret special wiz bang gadget with these engines. You have to race them them smarter.

Bill,
Are you williing to share the info. on camshafts and other avenues to get these motors running better? Thanks for all the help. I will send you my private email address in a private message if you would like to help.
Thanks

Hello,
There is a really smart guy named Steve Tanzi that is the operations manager for Erson Cams. This guy has been around for ever designing top competing camshafts for all types of engine applications. Give him a call and see what he comes up with for you.

did you say share? If your starving, I would share my sandwhich with you. Being your racing, and I have 20+ years in my own monies and dyno testing things that really will work, I will have to decline the sharing. I will sell you the right camshaft and other parts to keep you from spending your cash on stuff that maybe will or most likely not work. I will help with tune ups or maybe send me your engine and I will help with advertisement by giving you an engine that will pull like a bat out of h___ all the way around the track and no go boom.

If I did not live in Iowa that may be an alternative to send my engines to you. I have a pretty good deal getting machine work done at very little cost and assembly done at no labor and all parts at or around cost, so thats hard to pass up. I am not saying that I wouldnt venture out to get that stuff done.
I would be interested in buying the right cams and other parts from you. Let me know your prices and the parts that you think I need. I am not asking for part numbers, just need stuff that works.. You can send the info. through a private message. That would be fine. Thanks Bill

no, can't give away your stuff
Not sure what you meant by this. Email me the prices and such. I sent you my personal email address. ITs easier for me, during the day, to communicate over email then ovre the phone.

You have to dyno the engine for real conditon testing. You are throwing darts at ballons if you don't. There are a lot of ballons and very few darts. UPS truck freight can get your engine from you to me, from me to you for under $750.00. Cheap money for real HP.

Do you have any prices on the parts and such that you suggest I use in these engines and what I need to buy from you.

Put together a list, not asking for part numbers, with prices. Getting the engine on a dyno is not an issue. There are a few reputable ones in this area that specialize in nothing but oval track engines. And if I am pleased with the results, I have no problem sending you my engines.
