Everything I have ever worked with I have used the Mallory Unilite. It is easy to make the timing curve do whatever you want. So now I have run into a problem that I am sure is a simple fix. I have a friend with 68 camaro with a GMPP 502. The timing specs he gave me are 8* initial and 32* total. He came over and said it was really flat, so I checked the timing with a digital light, and got the following total mech advance readings:

800-12*
1000-12*
1500-13*
2000-14*
2500-17*
3000-17*
3500-17*
As you can imagine it was a dog!!!!!!!

So I installed an Accel Blueprint HEI and got the following results (total)

800- 8*
1000- 9*
1500-17*
2000-21*
2500-23*
3000-25*
3500-25*

I am sorry if this all seems elementary, but it is greek to me. I am not a fan of the HEI for this reason. 25* is not enough total mech to make this combo run well. Is there a way to modify the center section to achieve more mech advance. With the distributor set at 36* it runs great. But starts for crap. This combo does kick back at 18-20 initial. I have seen it break nose cones. Thanks for the help in advance..........no pun intended :D
