Would these heads suit a 406 chev with 14:1 domed Srp's, 700" lift mech Roller, 6 in rod, vitor Jr,Holley Ultra, Race Fuel sorry (Race Gas) etc, ect? looking to make 600 Gen Hp! Looking at maybe adding 150/200HP of NOS later, Was looking at getting the 230 iron's but am not sure which would suit what i have better,Any info would be great?

They will work very well with a slightly higher RPM band then with a 434 or something larger. These heads work very well. Becareful with to much duration, this kills the bottom end terribly.

Just some added info for you:

We built and dyno tested a 377ci ( 4.155 bore x 3.480 stroke ) with a set of 227 cnc heads on it. Here are the specs:

377ci

13.0:1 compression

264 / 274 durration at .050 (solid roller) .680 lift (int. / exh. 112 center.

Dart 42411000 manifold

830 Demon Carb

We made 628 hp @ 6,700 Rpm and 509 ft lbs @ 5,600 Rpm.

Thank's Mike.
I'am running 4:165 bore 3:75 crank and a 6in rod with srp dome's,so the heads and manifold u used were straight out of the box then? And i guess i would be pushing my luck for you to give me the full spec's on that cam sharft you guys used:)

Cheers

Hello,

The specs were posted.

264 / 274 durration at .050 (solid roller) .680 lift (int. / exh. 112 center.

I am not sure if that was installed strait up or not if thats what your wondering. I also dont know what the lash setting was.

LSM Ground the cam for us.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,

Mike

Thank's again!

What i ment was that the heads and manifold were put on the engine out of the box, with out touching them port wise? And do you have a contact web address or number for LSM (web site would be better as i am in Australia) is there a grind number that you have for the cam or will they (LSM) know what i am talking about if i tell them it is the same cam that they ground up for you guys?

Thank's Again

Paul

i just built a 436 sbc little m block dart 227s super victor intake eagle 6" H-beam rods cola 4" crank with 2" rod mains, 1050 dom. and a 630 lift 108 cen. comp. cam, and 10.5-1 comp. it made 630 hp @ 6800 rpm and 566 ft. @ 5800 rpm
does any one think it would be worth changing the cam to .700 lift? to make more power. it went 10.50 in a 3400 lbs nova and a 5400 stall conv.

At what lift is peak flow? Do you have enough piston to valve clearance to make the jump to .700 lift? The 108CL...is that where it's installed or the LSA? What is the LSA on the cam?

actually, the camshaft they used in the 377 build is not bad. I would of only used a 260/268 with a 106L/S with .725" lift. I would open the L/S up a little with nitrous or some street usuage.

no there wasnt enough room to make it .700 im using a diamond piston with a -15 dish id like to know my self if its worth bumping it up to 700 and what the heads peak flow at

A wider LSA should free up some piston to valve clearance. How close was it?

im not sure i didnt ask the engine builder, i was running short of cash so we went with that cam so i didnt have to buy another set of springs and retainers ect.
