What do you guys think about this?

I would love to see Dart offer a ported iron head - like a 200cc Dart fully ported to 215cc-220cc for the 4.030" bore engines for people such as the bracket racer looking for a cnc ported head that cant afford aluminum or prefer iron - If that could be done for $1,500 for bare heads that would be super

Yes, they are only $500+ cheaper than aluminum cnc'd heads depending on where you buy them BUT to some people $300-$800 savings would be enough to go cast iron plus it would expand the line to cover something nobody has ever done - A cnc ported iron head

Even if Dart supplied them as Dart M2 Iron Eagle Platinums

Dart Vader, what are your thoughts?

EDIT to post above: That head would dominate at the tracks across the country

Although the price would certainly make a difference for some people, I have a strong feeling that most would just go with the aluminum heads. Given the current production demands it would be difficult for us to justify periodically retooling machines to run CNC iron heads.
I wouldn't say it's never going to happen, but I can say that we don't have any current plans for CNC iron heads.

What would be the minimum order you'd have to have in order to get it done? Do you think Dart will ever make a 49cc chamber in the aluminum heads?

It would require a very large order at this point, $1 million or so in parts. There are dealers out there that we work with that will do it pretty reasonably though.

49cc aluminum heads would be cool, but I don't know of any current plans to make them.

Would be nice to have that small chamber without having to do all the work to get there. Surley Dart can see this as being a huge benifit. Plus...is there anyone else that is making a 23° Aluminum head with a 49 cc chamber. You guys would be the first. C'mon...beat everyone else to market on this one.....lol

I have used the 200 and 220 50 cc stuff from RHS or Comp Cams, formerly Pro Topline. Very good stuff.

Well I'll let the powers that be know that 49cc aluminum heads are being asked about anyway. Maybe down the road... you never know!

We are going through our 406 in our camaro this winter or will be building a 383 - In order to have a good flame travel and light piston we are going with 49cc heads - We too would really like aluminum but you got to use what you have {aluminum would nice}

The chamber size is one of the main reason I have been using your 49cc Iron eagle heads on some builds. If I could get the same chamber in the Aluminum versions I'd be using them alot more. Small chambers make hp.

Ought to be an easy thing to incorporate into your program. You already have the cast iron version and they aren't that much different. Sounds like an easy decission to me.

How much can safely be milled off the 49cc heads?

Small shallow chambers make hp not deep chambers. Very little difference in hp between 50 and 64 and even 72 with the same compression if any. Does offer lighter weight rotational values and you do not have to run quite as much total timing. Valve angle is still messed up.

We just put a set of 50cc chambered 200 cc intake runner heads with 2.08 intakes in them on a really good flat tappet 355 single carbed engine. All the good lightweight crank rods etc. Compression with a 3.48 stroke is almost 15-1. We will see if this combination works. Looking for at the least 497 hp. 500 would be really good, thats over 1.4-1 ratio. I don't think it will happen. I have been reading all these claims of 500-600 hp with roller stuff but never seen e.t. to prove it. So I have one done up. This will be an ebay engine after I'm done. $4000 complete from carb to pan, all really nice stuff. C/A rods, Comp Cams, 4340 Liberty 44 lb crank, stainless 2.08 1.60 valves, 750 carb msd dist ported Victor style intake and spacer, wires plugs dyno tested. Should be nice. Will post dyno session with #'s
