I need to design motormount plates for an engine built with a Sportsman Big M block. I am looking for a Solid model with accurate bell housing hole locations as well as tapped hole locations on the front of the block. The Centerline of the crank is also important.

I do not need internal details at all (no I am not going to cast my own blocks). Does anyone have an accurate model that I can use to do my layouts ? Can Dart provide a dumb solidmodel ?

I work in Solidworks but can import many different formats.

Thanks.

Why cant you just use a std BB ? Should be the same?????? Call and ask Dart if its the same dimension

First thing when i read the post i thought a competitor or someone trying to cast their own blocks. Truth be known, Dart's blocks are better than ALL the Competition out there

I guess it would (I have NO big block experience, we are moving up in class). I started by looking for a Solid Model of a BB and couldn't find anywhere on the web. It MUST be out there somewhere but I have not been able to find it.

They could take out all the internal details, I don't need any of that.

Standard BBC motor mount plates work just fine with the Big M block.

Thank you, that is good to know.

I have to layout my own mounts (not a car application where I can just buy plates) so a print or a model would be very helpful if it is available. I am suprised that this isn't something that Dart would offer ??

Actually, the GM performance guide - Chevrolet Power, has all of the GM block prints in it.
All of the info you need for this will be present in that book, which can be acquired at any bookstore with performance auto books, and at many performance auto supplier locations.

I hope this helps, we normally don't make our own prints available. Not that we are trying to be obstinate but there are various legal concerns with such things!
