Using darts alumunim sbc in a street car. Going back and reading past threads, I know Bill and others don't like to use any restrictors. I was wondering if that was just for race car applications, because of extended high rpm and trying to keep heat out of the springs? I'am using a solid roller. Also any thoughts on drill a small hole in the two most forward plugs to allow pressurized oilling to the chain and gear?
Sorry for all the questions, but this is the best motor I've ever gotten to build for myself, so I want to take my time.
Thank you Bill, for your help on my past threds.

You can buy the plugs your talking about. I would try drilling them myself. When I run the oil restrictors I don't use the o-rings that come with them. I also like drilling the hole in them ouot to .090". I use them like this so less oil goes to the upper end. But I don't want to limit oil to much.

Thanks for the input Don. This block doesn't use standard restrictors, so if I restrict oil it will be by drilling the appropriate sized holes in the internal lifter galley plugs. That brings up another question.
This is a wet sump motor being feed from the rear of block [from the external filter]. Should I restrict from the rear and plug the front or does it help with priority main oiling to let all of the oil go by the main feed first, then let it go through restrictors in the front, then to the lifters [by using solid plugs in the rear]

I would not use restrictors @ all if I am using an aftermarket oil pan with added oil capacity. I would not run the hole in the front plugs to oil the timing chain, its gets plenty. Remember to open the oil galley up to let oil run back to the pan. The top of the block has no provison for this. I put 4 ½" radiused holes in front of each cam bearing to get the oil back in the pan and to splash around on the lifters for the street. If your running a stock pan, which you are not, then I would use some style of restrictor but this is not the case. Use the new Billet SBC pump from Moroso and you will be fine. I think the # is 21171 or something close.

Thanks Bill, yes I drilled and put a heavy chamfer on valley return holes. I'am going to look into moroso's billet pump.
