I am building a 383 for a Towing-Off Road Truck on the GM short block 383. I am going to use the TBI setup that came with the 95 K1500. I have an Edelbrock 3704 TBI intake, bored Throttle Body, 454 injectors. I have a Comp Cam 12-249-4 cam that I might use.

Would you recommend the Dart 165 heads with this setup? From what I can gather it is going to take a 64cc combustion chamber to get 9.1 compression. How about a computered Cam? Will 1.6 Roller Tip Rockers work with these heads? Low to Mid RPM Torque is more important than High RPM HP.

Thanks

Those heads should work fine IMO. I think you could go as big as 180cc ports. I built an engine similar to yours for an 89 camaro TBI engine, 383 ci and I had the factory roller cam reground. With 1.6 rockers it came out to be a .483"lift, 208@.050" on 112LSA You may not want that much lift, I don't know but with 1.5 rockers its a .453" lift I ran 1.6 comp pro magnums.

I'd go the 180s if it were mine.

The stock Vortec Heads work very very well with minor work. But the 165s here should not hurt the bottom end too much. I am usually all torque in this application and either would do the job. Everything you have posted should be fine. Check the lbs of those injectors, you may be too big.
