I am using the standard 1003 on mine. I think it is .041 though. Might be alittle thick for what your looking for. Hope that helps.

.035" might be a little tight in the quench area. I generally shoot for .045 or so with steel rods and around .055-.060 with aluminum rods. Of course it also depends on the max PRM you intend to see. I know of some guys running as tight as .035" and seem to not have any problems though. But I didn't put them together and have not seen the parts when they were down for a freshen up.
I wouldn't worry too much about the steam holes unless your going to be seeing a lot of idling time.
What are you going to use the engine for. How much street use versus track time?
Thanks, Don

H-beam rods, flat top piston, -5cc valve relief, 64cc combustion chamber.
The pistons are .005" in the hole & I wanted aprox .035 gasket to give a .040" quench & 11.5:1 compression. the 1010 (.039) will give me 11.45:1 with a quench of .044. . .036"Cometics would give it 11.53:1compression & quench height of .041" but they are more than twice the price of the fel-pro & with My set up I think the .039 fel pro 1010 would be close enough, Looking @ going through the stripe @7k, shifting @ 6800. %99 strip brkt car, what do you think?
Thanks George

Sounds good to me also. I think you'll be fine with anything between .040" and .045".
Let us know how she runs this summer.
