Im looking to buy a big M block with a standard deck height(class rules) and my goal is to make 1400hp using nitrous (2 kits) & brodix heads I was thinking of using a 4.500 x 4.500 bore /stroke to do it does anyone think this is possible

ps I want to keep the compression on the low side maybe 10:1-11:1

Part Number: BRO-9992001-3 from summit
Intake Runner Volume (cc): 365cc
Combustion Chamber Volume (cc): 119

maybe 500-600 hp of nitrous

Anything is possible, your going to stuff a lot of crank into a short distance. Your rod and piston combination will be tight. We have built a few of these and I am in the process right now of building another short deck 598. I can also kill Summits prices on those heads and give you better parts and technical support you will not get from them. 500-600 hp of nitrous is not a problem. I would recommend a Groden billet aluminum rod, this way, we can get the proper rod length. I can have steel Oliver rods made also. PM me and I will price it for you.

Any particular reason for running a short deck? Just looking at the combination, and for a nitrous motor, one that is trying to make alot of power, it just not seem like the parts are going to be very "happy". Durability will take a hit, there would be power to gain by changing some things. Is this engine something you are set on? We have built some pieces using short decks that stay below 550c.i. and made over 1100hp with single four barrel intakes. I would be interested in knowing more about your engine ideas, or rules that you are working with.

I know there are several otions, we have several guys using the Dart conventional heads with less cubic inches and achieving the power levels you are looking to achieve.

Awaiting your response.

Thanks for responding

I want to run a short deck so that I can compete in almost any class (i.e. true street ,local 275 drag radial class)
ill be using 2 stages & im looking to use the most efficient bore/stroke combo for that block & im wondering will there really be a big difference between a 540,572 or any other cubic inch combo the car is going to weigh 3300# and im looking to go low 8's & eventually 7's in order to be competitive

Are you wanting to stay with the stud mounted rockers or would you consider running shaft mounted rockers?

I have a 3300lb 8.50 car that is the World Champ Shakedown Winner. It has a Dart Headed 540 that has run 7.80's with both stages but now is not legal because of the cage. Putting a cage in a street car is a no no. Anyway, the 548-555-565-572-582 all will do about the same on the spray. 600 hp is what I used to run the 7's, but only use 275hp to 300hp now to run 8.50@ 164mph. So You can take it from there. This is not bullcrap never run nothing tech. I have run this car with this combination for 3 years not with no problems and as of today, it looks like Iwill be using the same combination for another run at it. If your interested in a combination, let me know. You will not get 1100hp from a convential headed any size short deck BBC that you don't want to spend $40,000 on. But with Nitrous, you don't have to make but 875-925hp raw and then just keep changing the pill till you get to wher eyou want to be. The whole nos package as a whole is way more important than any 1 size or brand car or engine. Call me if your interested in doing right.
