going to build 540 would like some input will be a dart low deck block callies crank eagle rods 14 to 1 compression solid roller wondering about top end set up car is 64 gto all steel powerglide 9 inh rear bracket car reliability and consistency are most important no notrous was looking at dart 345 pro one heads not sure of cam dont have any parts right now but im ready to buy wanna run in the 9.5 range chassis is set up to handle the power no problem any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Don't use the 345, its to big, unless you do a 565, no more money to do that if you don't know. I would use the 325 with the 540 or the 335CNC Pro 1. Even that is big. Dart Intake, roller cam in the .750 range with conservative duration and you'll be right there. I have the heads, cam, intake etc. If your serious give me a ring.

hi Awesome bill, so you say that the pro-1 345 are too big for a 540?

very! I have a dyno and have tried it. Did not say it won't work, but with a 310-320-325 port, it will make way more power. Also did a test with that same combination with a 3300 lb Chevelle. The 345 head was way slow over the 310 cc head. Really depends on the entire application. At around 7500-8000 rpm, made good power, but under that and where most people think they should be, it was slow. If you don't believe me, put those heads on and see how fast it goes. The Moroso slide calcualtor is a very very good hand held dyno!
