Pistons For 49cc Heads Available

We may have some pistons available just for the Dart 49cc heads small block chevys next week

Here are some specs:

Piston 1
1.560" compression height
.927" piston pin x 2.500"
4cc valve notch
1/16" 1/16" 3/16" ring grooves

Piston 2
1.260" Compression height
.927" piston pin x 2.500"
4cc valve notch
1/16" 1/16" 3/16" ring grooves

Piston 2 can be used in a 327 small block with a 6.125" rod length. It can also be used in a 350 small block with 6.00" rod length.

Piston 1 can be used in a 350 small block with 5.7" rods. Piston 1 can also be used in a 383 with 5.565" rods.

Compression ----
Piston 2 in a 327 is 12:1 compression with a zero deck and a gasket thickness of .040"

Piston 2 in a 350 is 12.8:1

Piston 1 in a 350 is 12.8:1

Piston 1 in a 383 is 13.74:1

compression with a zero deck and a gasket thickness of .040" and gasket bore of 4.080"

You can figure about a little loss in compression from what i posted due to cc's above the top ring, not that much maybe .05 - .1

Here are some feautures,,,,
- 2618 -t6 forged aluminum
- lightweight
- .002"-.006" suggested clearance
- weight matched ( +/- 2.5 grams)
- Finished Diameter +/- .00005"
- Will also fit most 23 degree heads

Sizes are std, .030" and .060"

I dont know of many others at all that offer pistons for these Dart 49cc heads unless you go custom 21-22 degree pistons

Its a simple suggestion as to whats available from one of my suppliers in about a week.

Wiseco Pro True Series, which is still a 2618 forging has been around for 2 years with flat top and -19cc. So it really nothing new, just someone else getting around to do it. I do sell Wiseco most likely better priced than anyone!

You have to watch, the 49cc heads have the valves lower by a hundred thou than advertised. I got caught on that and have a spare set of pistons on the shelf now.

The valves are not actually lower than "advertised", we have always made the information about the 49cc head valve positions available. We have never advertised anything else. See below...

Sorry Dart Vader, wasn't trying to cause any trouble or mislead anyone.

When I purchased my set of 49cc heads that information wasn't available. In fact, nobody really seemed to acknowledge any difference and I was referred to the standard platinum head psec sheet.

Here's the reply from your tech department in 2007...

"I will have to check on that installed height issue it should not be that way. I will have that looked into. I will attach the paperwork for the heads with this email also. We use the same paperwork for both heads, the 64 and the 49. If you need more information let me know."

I would suggest that you create a seperate "spec sheet" for the 49cc head - that will help eliminate any confusion for people in the future. It should be noted that the valve is closer to the deck by +.100 and that you will likely need a +.200 valve instead of a +.100 as your standard paperwork indicates.

I have been extremely happy with both my 49cc heads and my 64cc heads, I'm not knocking the product in any way. I'd buy another set in a second if I needed them.

A separate spec sheet or an altered spec sheet is probably a good way to make absolutely sure people are aware of this when they get their 49cc heads, I will definitely work on implimenting that in one form or another.

Sorry that you didn't get all the info you needed from your chat with our techs a few years back. We have made a big push lately to try and expand the amount of information we can give to our customers, and to make it faster and easier to get.

I am not exactly following the longer valve cure. I do see how the 21* pistons will alleviate the problem.:confused:
