Hi all. I'm looking for a recommendation. I have a 1978 Corvette with an L-48. My valve guides are shot, and maybe more. Anyhow, I have heard nothing but bad about the heads on the '78 L-48s, so I figured I'd just swap them out instead of bothering to screw around rebuilding them.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for a new set? I am leaning toward Iron Eagles since I have heard so much good about them. Ideally, I'd like a good set of replacement heads that will not require that I get a new intake manifold/carb/cam, etc. but would invest more if necessary. What should I go for in terms of intake port and combustion chamber sizing?

Thank you very much in advance. I don't know enough to make the best decision possible, so I really appreciate all your help.
:D

The S/R series is a much better head for your application being you have just got a stock engine. You can port these to pretty much any cc you would like in the furture if a 383 or 400 stroker was in the budget. This heads make great power and will raise your compression 1 plug ratio.
