I am changing directions on a build that I started 2 years ago. The gentleman that was helping wanted to go a bit more radical than I had planned, then a kid, then life and you all know the rest. The question I have is what top end kit (iron head or aluminum head) would you put on this motor? I will give you all the details that I can thnk of off the top of my head.

400 block (511 cast) bored .040 and clearanced for 6" stroke
Eagle 4340 crank 3.75"
Eagle 4340 h-beam 6" rods with eagle 2000 bolts
SRP flat top pistons that give 10.5 cr with 72cc head
no cam selected yet but will go with a hydr. roller
th350 transmission with a 3500 stall
car weighs around 3400
ford 9" rear with 4.10 gears
I have a holley 950 hp that I am going to try and use

I think that is about it. I am wanting to try and get enough hp to put the car in the mid 11's without the nitrous. It went 12.5 on street tires with a tired 355sbc before.

At that compression use the aluminum 215 kit, with a single plane. JMO. Good luck.

That's a hell of a lot of clearancing! ;) :D :p

I would consider smaller chamber heads to get the compression up. Changing to 64cc heads should bump you up to 11.45:1 CR.

What is your budget?

unfortunately not alot. I was going to be spending $2300 for afr comp heads alone, but can no longer afford that. I don't know 1500 to 1800

the 215 with the 72cc chamber is what you want then. Have CamMotion grind you a custom for it.

that will work fine and yes the 3.750" crank and block clearenced for 6.000" rods is correct. Put it together, you will run fine.
