I have a dart big m short deck bbc 4.600 and have pistons with 1.22 ch,
I think this will use a 4.375 crank with 6.385 rod to make a 582?
or should I try to use a 4.00 crank with a 4.535 rod to make a 532?
these are blower piston and I am not sure how far down the piston
will be in the 532?
with the 582 I think they will be at the top or right at it?
It will be in a pro street car that will some day be boosted I hope! Thanks for your help TC:D

Hey TC,

4.375 stroke w/ a 4.600 bore = 581.6 CI

4.000 stroke w/ a 4.600 bore = 531.8 CI

The formula to figure out your assembly height is:

(stroke / 2 ) + ( Compression Height) + ( Rod Length) =

Your above combo measures 2.1875 + 6.385 + 1.22 = 9.7925 Height

Now, you said you had a short deck which is 9.800" + .008 - .010

9.800 - 9.7925 = .0075 in the hole + .008 - .010 we leave on the deck of our blocks.

You need to increase rod length or compression height by .195" if you reduce the stroke to 4.00"

2.000 + 6.385 +1.22 = 9.605 ( 9.800 - 9.605 = .195 )

Rod length would be ( 6.385 + .195 = 6.580" ) w/ 1.22 CH.

or

CH would be ( 1.22 + .195 = 1.415" ) w/ 6.385 rod length.

Let me know if you have any questions ?
