Using dart aluminum sbc for a street car (427 ci). Scat large journal crank 2.650 (mains) 2.100 (rods) with clevite coated bearings. I set mains at .0020"-.0021" on all but #5 set at .0027" using half set of std. and half set 1x.
I've never run mains this tight before, (my first build using an aluminum block) but eve
rything I've read seems to say go tight on mains because of expantion?????? Rods ended up at .0018" - .0019" . Anyone ever run them that tight? I'm sure I'll end up ordering a set of 1x and do what ever needed to get closer to .002"-.0021". Coated bearings are nice, but sure seem to tighten things up a little.

you can get away with that with no problems. we like .002-.003 on the mains and .002-.0025 on the rods. The aluminum block will grow a little the crank and rods will not grow that much.
