Default It's Alive

Well, it's been a year or so since I first started posting here with my intent to build a 400 small block for my Corvette. A year or so later it's finally alive at 434 ci. The engine is in and running. Final build:

Dart Little M Sportsman w/4.155 bore
Howard's Prox Max Crank 4.00 stroke
Callies Ultra XD 6.00 inch rods with Icon forged pistons (10.8 compression)
Lunati Solid Roller 256/264 @0.50, .669/.669 lift (1.6 rockers), 108 LSA
Comp Cams 3/8 pushrods
Isky Redline Roller Lifters w/EZX rollers
Dart Pro 1 CNC 227 heads with Crower Stainless Steel shaft rockers
CNC Super Victor
Quick Fule Q-950-AN annular booster carb
MSD ignition system (Pro Billet Distibutor/6AL programmable/HVC II Coil) with Taylor 409 wires
Hooker 1 3/4 Headers
Tremec TKO 600 5 Speed
4.11 rearend

I know that some may disagree with the long stroke/short deck and the cam choice. But it is what it is and it's now built. I may make a cam change depending on how it runs. Thanks to everybody on the forum for the tips and advice along the way. Here is a link to a picture of it in the car. http://photobucket.com/434pics I still need to work on little details here and there but it's in and running at least. I'm working on pulling together a rearend setup from Tom's Rearends. Once I get it pulled together and everything dialed in, I'll get it to the track and update on some times.

I was so into the wrenching and getting it going that it never dawned on me to memorialize my work as I went. All I can offer you is a couple of pics of the valvetrain. Sorry. But for sure I'll get you guys some times once I get the rearend finished up.

No problem on the pics. Yeah I've seen yours posted somewhere else a couple of times. Different offset, BIG ratio, different adjusters and you added spring oiler setup if I remember.

I'm needing to redo the rearend. Once I got it started and gave it a couple of spins around the block, it became pretty clear that my rearend needed some work. The car hadnt been driven in several years. Working on sweet talking the boss in the family into agreeing that I need to go ahead and pull the trigger on the entire Tom's setup and not just the posi unit. Probably be another month and change since I just ordered up a new hood to fit the new intake and carb setup and a stainless steel exhaust system. Funny thing is she is the one that pushed me into getting my butt into the garage to dust it off and work on getting it going again. I've had the car going on 30 years now so it's good to see it running again and I'm anxious to hit the strip with it.
