6061 is an aluminum alloy containing elements of silicon and magnesium, and is typically supplied in billet rather than cast form.  The alloy has excellent mechanical properties that make it highly suitable for a wide range of high strength manufacturing applications, from automotive parts to aircraft components.

6061 aluminum in its normal state is dead soft, and mechanical properties vary considerably with the type of heat treatment program used on the material. Dart uses 6061 aluminum to produce our billet blocks. We employ a T61 heat treatment process in order to ensure that the alloy has the most beneficial set of mechanical properties possible for highly stressed racing engines.
