New Dirt Late Model series launches in Mid-West.
CJ Promotions, LLC and Dart Machinery are launching a new Mid-West racing series for Dirt Late Models. The "Corn Belt Clash" will debut in 2009, and is expected to draw racers from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Dirt Late Model open engine rules will apply. Complete rules will be available at the series’ website www.cornbeltclash.com which will be operational shortly.
Scheduled race dates are as follows:
Friday, June 12 – Fayette County Speedway – West Union, Iowa
Thursday, July 2 – Highway 3 Raceway – Allison, Iowa (www.highway3raceway.com)
Thursday, July 16 – Independence Motor Speedway – Independence, Iowa (www.independencemotorspeedway.com)
Tuesday, July 28 – Fayette County Speedway – West Union, Iowa
August (date to be determined)– Fayette County Speedway – West Union, Iowa
A possible event at Knoxville Raceway in conjunction with the Late Model Nationals is also being discussed.
The Corn Belt Clash was conceived of as a means for drivers in the upper Midwest, racing under different series rules, to come together and race on a level playing field. It is also a venue to allow Mid-West racers to compete without having to travel long distances, and so reduce their expenses.
