9 Degree SBC Cylinder Heads |
|
Imagine the raw power offered by exotic head designs coupled with the simplicity of an in-line valve design. The 9 degree cylinder head is the embodiment of this combination.
Optimal valve angle and intake port positioning achieve maximum potential air/fuel flow around the circumference of the valves, for ultimate power potential. And a reduced valve angle isn’t the only benefit Dart has built into these heads. The valve seats for intake and exhaust valves have been cut at 50 degrees to increase air/fuel flow at high lift.
Versions of the head have been created for both 4.400” and 4.500” bore spacing. The 4.400” heads use 2.200/1.625 inch intake and exhaust valves while the 4.500” spread bore versions use 2.230/1.625 inch valves. The 4.500” version of the head also has provisions for extra head bolts added to each end, making for an improved seal.
Several features were added to the 9 degree cylinder head in order to make it versatile and easier to work with as well. The top of the heads have been widened, allowing for greater rocker ratios without interference issues arising. A mirrored valve configuration has been used with in-line valves, this allows for a more compact intake manifold, which in turn makes for easier tuning and better throttle response thanks to the even distribution between the runners. The exhaust flange pattern for the standard 4.400” bore head has been designed to work with widely available 13 degree exhaust headers. The flange for the valve cover mount has been made taller, allowing for shorter valve covers. This means a pair of CNC-cut valve covers that include valve spring squirters can be fabricated more economically than old-school sheet metal valve covers.
Welcome to the next evolution in racing technology.
All cylinder heads are sold individually. |
